Greenwood Row: A Legacy of Culture, Ownership, and Community
Founded by Venroy July, Greenwood Row is a creative and commercial corridor designed to cultivate entrepreneurship, culture, and ownership in the heart of the city.
1977
Early Career
Received a Juris Doctor from Duke University School of Law.
Began career as a corporate attorney advising businesses on finance, mergers, and investments.
Practiced in Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, working with companies across industries including technology, manufacturing, and logistics.
2013
Founding Baltimore Young Professionals
Co-founded Baltimore Young Professionals (BYP) to build social and economic networks for Black professionals.
The organization began with small gatherings where attendees were asked to bring a friend, and eventually grew into a citywide professional network.
2014–2018
Recognition & Leadership
Named to Baltimore Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 list.
Became the first Black partner in the Corporate & Finance group at Miles & Stockbridge in nearly 30 years.
Continued community leadership through mentorship programs and nonprofit boards.
2020s
Focus on Economic Development
Became increasingly involved in real estate investment and Opportunity Zone development in Baltimore.
Advocated for Black entrepreneurship and ownership through initiatives supporting early-stage Black businesses.
2024
Major Real Estate Development Work
Acquired a historic property on West Baltimore Street with plans to redevelop it as a mixed-use community space including retail, food, and makerspace concepts.
The project builds on previous investments where he renovated multiple rowhomes and revitalized sections of West Baltimore Street.
